Madden NFL 11 Wii

Senior QA – Nintendo Wii

Madden NFL 11 Wii was the first year that I was viewed as a full time designer, even though my title didn’t match yet. Working with two senior designers, I took ownership of portions of the Franchise mode user experience, sound design and implementation, roster-related production tasks, and more.

FRANCHISE MODE UX

Madden NFL 11 Wii was going to get a major overhaul to Franchise mode to make better use of the hardware and to distance itself from its PlayStation 2 roots. I was in charge of mapping out the user experience and streamlining, removing as many UI screens as possible as a measure to reduce scope. Over 50% of the screens were eliminated by a sharp and sensible redesign that maintained 100% of the functionality. Additionally, I worked directly with cross-functional departments to develop art, audio, and marketing assets.

DESIGNER IN TRAINING

I am thankful for the coaching and mentoring that my team provided me so that I could deliver several Madden NFL 11 Wii features. I owned implementing sound and commentary assets, building dozens of camera animations, data updates (schedules, player data, rosters, etc), designing gameplay abilities content, designing UI screen and UX flows, and more. I was even invited to media and PR events to do on-camera interviews about Madden NFL 11 Wii.
