Lead Game Designer

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All-Play

Development Tester – Nintendo Wii

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All-Play was my first professional game project and served as my introduction to EA Sports and the games industry. I accepted a QA level role simply to penetrate the games industry and was willing to make contributions below my potential while building my reputation as a reliable, creative, and trustworthy game developer capable of game design and production responsibilities.

MINI GAME OWNERSHIP

The Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All-Play team had one Game Designer who was more than willing to share work with me. I took on the design, feedback, and tuning of the mini games that would help players hone their skills at core game mechanics like putting and shot accuracy, as well as fun moments party-style games involving golf bumper carts at the driving range and bouncing a golf ball on an iron like Tiger is known to do. It was very important to me to mix the authenticity and simulation golf that the Tiger Woods franchise was known for with the fun and social experiences found in popular party games on the Wii platform.

PRODUCTION OWNERSHIP

In addition to my QA duties and developing the mini games, I was asked to drive the production of the game credit roll sequence. This seemingly simple tasks spanned weeks of work, required critical attention to detail, detailed documentation, and involved several recurring discussions with EA lawyers to get the wording, spacing, order, and accuracy of the credit roll sequence approved. Additionally, I was responsible for authoring user-facing copy throughout the game which required first defining the voice and tone of the product and then unifying all copy to match one voice.
